LIES I HAVE TOLD: IS IT ART? PART TWO– ACTING!

by Keef Rutledge on April 25, 2012

In my theatre company’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” it
was my privilege to play the role of Puck, the naughty troublemaker.
Now, I have always been a firm believer in Stanislavski’s “Method”
acting style. To get into the role of Puck properly, I began playing
pranks and practical jokes on the other members of the company. They
began to get irritated with me, but could clearly see the improvement
in my acting ability, and so they bore with me. On opening night, in
the ultimate prank, I acted so badly that the production was booed off
the stage and we lost all of our funding. I hold this moment as my
life’s greatest triumph.
